Your dad was a good man, Sonia. He had just finished a mission with Golf team and they arrived at the pre-determined landing zone to be picked up by helicopter. They got into a firefight with a patrol of enemy soldiers before the choppers arrived, and he didn’t make it. The team leader, Freddy Hardman, took 3 rounds under his right arm but survived. I can’t tell you how brave men like your dad and Freddy were, the least I can do is try to honor them and keep their memories alive with this website. Even though the war was lost in the end, their sacrifices were not in vain. God knows what they gave, and honors such selfless sacrifices.
