  1. Kevin,
Thank you for your message. I not only have photos of Jim that you and your brothers and sister are welcolme to, but I also have an hour-long recording of a phone conversation that your dad and I had, when I interviewed him about the details of the mission he was wounded on, as well as the hell he went through recovering, which took almost a year of hospitalization. I will figure out a way to get it to you. I just finished listening to it and it was extremely moving, hearing his voice again. Your dad was incredibly brave on the battlefield and equally so in his fight to survive afterward. When you listen to the recording you realize it was truly a miracle that he survived. God had mercy on him and gave him the most important mission of his life – your family. He proved himself worthy on both counts, both as a US Army Ranger and as a husband and father. And to his fellow Rangers who served with him, he was more than a teammate that had our backs. He was a true friend.

    Respect,
    Bart

  2. Hi my name is Kevin J. Gray , my father was James “Jimmy” D. Gray, he passed away 7-23-2024. I noticed he is in some of your photos and it really meant alot to my siblings and myself seeing these photos of our Dad that we’ve not seen previously so thank you for that. My Dad didn’t like to talk much about the war or his service and whenever we did ask he always responded with a short and humble response. If there’s anything you may know I would really be grateful if you could share the info. I understand it’s a shot in the dark nonetheless I appreciate the website and work that you’ve done. My father was from 75th Ranger battalion then detached to 173rd. He was in country 1968-1969 . He was badly injured during one of his L.R.P. missions, he was flown to Germany for advanced medical treatment to save his life before returning to the states, and I believe my dad told me he drill instructor for remaining time in Army , pretty sure 1973 he was honorably discharged. That’s pretty much all I know. Thanks again for what your site has done and thank you for taking the time to read this.
